My portfolio highlights five projects that ignite my passion for 3D art. Each showcases my expertise across the entire CG pipeline, from meticulous modeling and lighting development to achieving stunning renders and seamless compositing. By developing personal and client projects, I've honed my ability to integrate my artistic vision with the storytelling purpose of the art.
The "Venus" project stands out as a milestone for me. It involved integrating a complex pipeline across multiple 3D software packages, including Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and RizomUV. Even three years later, the challenges and lessons learned in scene composition and large environment management remain vivid.
Fueled by a recent playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 and a few months spent exploring the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, I embarked on a moderately-sized environment construction project. Opting for a cyberpunk theme, I leveraged a limited city Kitbash set to weave multiple narratives within a single bustling corner of a futuristic metropolis.
For a class project at RMIT, I was solely responsible for the visual effects (FX) for a short film. The biggest challenge? Creating a fantastical explosion that seamlessly integrated into a realistic setting. The set's lighting and actors' movements further necessitated a meticulous compositing approach to ensure a cohesive final product.
Fueled by a desire to create a historically significant environment yet unknown to many, I embarked on my first project using a complete procedural modeling workflow in Houdini. This involved techniques like Heightfields, erosion simulation, and scattering systems, allowing me to craft a scene rich in detail and realism.
This project ignited a newfound passion for the real-world applications of fire simulation. It proved to be a demanding challenge, requiring the creation of visually stunning and consistent fire across various sequences and camera angles. To achieve this, the project leveraged cutting-edge techniques and tools, including Axiom for fire simulation and Karma XPU rendering within Houdini.
